By external use products made of juniper (cedar) demonstrate strong bactericidal (essential oil) and anti-inflammatory effect (tannins, ascorbic acid).
Products containing juniper effectively increase tone of skin. Juniper tar is obtained by dry distillation from heartwood layer of a plant.
Birch tar is often (especially in folk medicine) used by mycoses treatment, since it has antifungal properties.
Tar can be used externally as an adjunct by treatment of dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis and skin itching.
